A Perspective component that streams your RTSP cameras straight into Ignition. Drop it on a view, pick your cameras, and your team gets a multi-camera grid they can click to expand — for security, custom views, or live floor context next to alarms and OEE. Free up to 6 feeds. Part of our Ignition module lineup.
RTSP cameras
Generic RTSP IP cameras and NVRs — UniFi Protect included, referenced by name from the gateway.
Perspective component
Drop it on a view, pick your cameras, done — spin up a custom camera view in minutes. Click any tile to expand, on the control-room wall or a phone.
Credentials stay server-side
By design, cameras are configured server-side and referenced by name, so camera credentials aren't sent to the browser and streams proxy through the gateway web port you already expose. Securing your gateway and network is your responsibility.
Built for many feeds
In our internal load testing, a single gateway handled roughly 100–200 feeds at low CPU. Real capacity depends on resolution, codec and hardware, so your results may differ — verify on the Free tier. Ask us for a sizing worksheet.
Automatic reconnect
Offline cameras trigger automatic reconnection attempts on a best-effort basis, reducing blank tiles you'd otherwise babysit.
One .modl, no extras
A signed module with a built-in gateway sidecar (RTSP→HLS). Nothing else to stand up, backed directly by CVI.
IP-camera feeds beside your Perspective OEE data
Drop the component into a Perspective dashboard and put the cameras right next to the numbers — supervisors see the jam and the OEE hit in one glance.

Try the full module free, up to 6 feeds, before you buy. Because the Free tier lets you verify compatibility on your own gateway first, paid licenses are final and non-refundable. The module is signed, so it loads on production gateways without developer mode. All paid tiers are per-gateway perpetual; optional version upgrades at 20% / year. Online checkout opens soon — email us to buy today, or with questions on volume or OEM. Get in touch.
Important — please read before buying. CVI-RTSP is provided as is, for monitoring and situational awareness only, at roughly 3–10 seconds of latency. It is not a safety, security, alarm-of-record, life-safety, or real-time control system and must not be relied on as one — always keep independent monitoring, recording (NVR/VMS) and alarms. Performance depends on your cameras, network and gateway hardware. The Free tier (up to 6 feeds) lets you install CVI-RTSP and verify compatibility with your own gateway and cameras at no cost before you buy. Purchases are subject to our License Agreement & Terms of Sale.
How licensing works
Buying is simple and the module runs on your own gateway:
Free: install the .modl, add cameras under Connections → RTSP Cameras (bulk paste works) — done, capped at 6 feeds.
Paid: check out, get a license key + download by email, install the module and paste the key into its config. The feed cap lifts to your tier.
Activation: the key validates online once, then the module runs offline — fine for air-gapped plant networks.
Per gateway: one license covers one Ignition gateway, perpetual. Integrator licenses cover multiple gateways for deploying across client sites.
Use cases
A few of the ways teams put CVI-RTSP to work inside Perspective:
Security & CCTV viewing
Bring security cameras into Perspective so guards and managers watch entrances, yards and sensitive areas — no separate VMS client to log into.
Spin up custom views
Build a focused camera view for any person or role in minutes — a shift lead's line, a manager's whole plant, a contractor's single zone.
Alarm-driven camera pop-ups
Tie a feed to an alarm: when it trips, the relevant camera comes up on screen so the team sees what's happening on the floor, fast.
Cameras beside OEE & process data
Drop live feeds next to your tags and OEE so supervisors see the jam and the number move together — context, not guesswork.
Frequently asked questions
How is it licensed?
Per Ignition gateway, perpetual — buy once, no recurring fee. “Perpetual” refers to your license for the version you bought; it is not a guarantee of compatibility with future Ignition versions. Licensed as-is — verify on the Free tier. Optional version upgrades at 20%/yr.
What's the video latency?
Typically around 3–10 seconds, depending on your cameras, network and gateway. CVI-RTSP transcodes RTSP to HLS at the gateway for browser playback — built for monitoring and situational awareness, not split-second control. Verify on the Free tier.
Does it record video?
No. CVI-RTSP displays live streams only — it does not record, store, or retain footage. Point it at your existing cameras or NVR for viewing; keep your NVR/VMS for recording.
Can I start free and upgrade later?
Yes. Enter a key any time and the feed cap lifts immediately — no reinstall.
Are my cameras exposed to clients?
By design, cameras are configured server-side and referenced by name, so camera credentials aren't sent to Perspective clients and feeds proxy through the gateway web port you already expose. Your deployment's security also depends on how you configure and secure your gateway and network.
What cameras work?
RTSP — generic IP cameras and NVRs, plus UniFi Protect, referenced by name from the gateway.
How many cameras can it handle?
In our internal load testing, a single gateway handled roughly 100–200 concurrent feeds at low CPU, with a dozen-plus tiles per screen. Real capacity varies with resolution, codec, bitrate and hardware, so your results may differ — verify on the Free tier.
Which Ignition versions?
Ignition 8.x, Perspective. CVI-RTSP is currently distributed as a signed module, so it installs on standard production gateways without developer mode. Signing and compatibility are controlled by Inductive Automation and may change between versions — verify on the Free tier first.
Not sure which tier fits? Send your camera count and gateway setup — we typically reply within one business day with the right license.
